About Russell Kessler

My wife Sherry and I have been married for 31 years and have raised three lovely daughters together and now raising a son; we also have eight beautiful grandchildren.  I grew up in southwest Wichita graduating from South High and Sherry graduated from Campus.  After high school I joined the Navy and retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 23 years of service.  I graduated from Friends University with a Masters in Management Information Systems, Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor of General Studies degree with a major in Information Networking and Telecommunications and graduated from the Community College of the Air Force with an Associate of Applied Science degree with a major in Instructor of Technologies and Military Science.  I have completed a 16 week MiniMPA program at Wichita State University, which provides executive development in public administration.  I am also employed as the Financial Systems Analyst for the Finance Squadron on McConnell AFB.

I have served on the Haysville City Council since April 2011 and have been the Council President since September 2013.  I strive to be very involved in the community ranging from being the Chairman on the Park Board since July 2011, being on the Haysville Planning Commission for two years, helping Haysville PRIDE setup the city Christmas decorations, making bierocks as a fundraiser, and helping with the annual city wide trash pick-up days.  I am also a Cub Scout leader with one of our local packs, Pack 893, and I also participate in a number of other volunteer activities with my church.  I will continue to work hard to serve the people of Haysville keeping it the great place it is, to live and raise our families.
